BOUNCE (verb) – to spring back from a surface in a lively manner.
A lot can be said about this traditional definition of the word. But at Bella Barre, we’re giving the word ‘bounce’ an even more exciting meaning. We’re pretty sure you have not been living under a rock the past couple of weeks (at least we hope you haven’t!), so we’re certain that you have heard the fantastic news about our brand new class – Barre Bounce! Created by Master Teacher Trainers at Bella Barre, Barre Bounce is a combo class that brings together the benefits of barre work and rebounding (AKA ‘bouncing’). No, this is not a drill – your favorite childhood pastime is now scientifically proven to be super good for you! So, we thought we would recap on all the reasons that make Barre Bounce so fabulous, and how it can help you get a jump on your fitness goals (we’re giving you all the puns because we’re just that excited!).
Exercising on a trampoline increases the circulation of oxygen throughout your body, making you more alert mentally, and making the exercise a fantastic form of aerobic or cardio work. Aside from being a really fun workout, rebounding gives you all the benefits of aerobic exercise without jarring the skeletal system, with 40% less impact on your joints and muscles. What’s more, rebounding exercise also stimulates the lymphatic system. Pair that with improved circulation, and you aid your body’s ability to remove waste, toxins, and fat (can we get a ‘heck yea!’?!). Regularly bouncing can also help increase your body’s metabolic rate by improving its ability to burn calories and process nutrients more efficiently. The best part? Rebounding saves you time, with just 10 minutes of bouncing being as effective as 30 minutes of running (we know, that’s where we fell in love too).
Bounce doesn’t just give us aerobic benefits, and that is a really good thing. Our approach through Barre Bounce allows for improved posture and body alignment (your chiropractor will be pretty stoked), as well as increased spatial awareness of your body, balance and coordination. This all forces the activation of the three major muscle groups in your body: legs, arms, and core. Core-stability muscles in particular remain engaged through the duration of the class in order to keep you stable and balanced, which helps you significantly strengthen both your abdominal and lower back muscles. Basically, rebounding exercise helps strengthen every cell, muscle, organ, tissue, bone and tendon in your body – say that fast three times!
Naturally, we keep the fitness benefits of Barre Bounce front and center, but more than anything, it’s important we note that it is FUN! (we’re bouncing on a trampoline! c’mon!). Rebounding exercise provides major stress relief, fighting depression, anxiety, and stress by increasing the number of endorphins released to the brain. If you don’t believe us, ask anyone who has taken a class with us – they will more than likely tell you that they left feeling happier, more positive, and even more self-confident! Moreover, bounce workouts can help with your sleep patterns and increasing your energy throughout the day overall. Forgive the corniness but it really is hard to feel blue when you’re bouncing!
Bella Barre is the first and only studio to offer bounce classes in LA County. We haven’t approached this lightly, which is why we took the time in developing the class format to include the best of both barre and bounce worlds. It’s safe, fun, effective, and just for you! We can’t wait to bounce with you!
